Reports
Reports collect public datasets in ready-made dashboards that you open from the property panel or from Analyze in the left-hand menu. The three report types cover population and community statistics from Statistisk sentralbyrå (SSB), housing price trends from Kartverket and a demographic profile at grunnkrets (basic statistical unit) level. No active project is required.

How to open it
- From the property panel: click Reports in the quick links on an open property and choose a report type. The report opens preselected for the property's location.
- From the Analyze menu: click Analyze in the left-hand menu and select Reports from the list.
The three report types
1. Community statistics
Population and growth statistics from Statistisk sentralbyrå (SSB) for all Norwegian kommune and grunnkrets areas, with history back to 1951 and projections to 2050.
- Tab: Population figures - key figures for the current year and the year-on-year change: population, excess of births, net immigration, net in-migration. Comparison function: choose two geographic levels and view them side by side.
- Tab: Population projections - map of Norway with bubbles per kommune (blue = growth, red = decline) for the period 2020-2050.
Typical use: market analysis for a retail location, assessment of growth potential in an area, demographic background for a presentation.
2. Price statistics
Housing price trends and transaction statistics based on registered sales from Kartverket, enriched with Placepoint's transaction dataset.
- Tab: Housing price statistics - avg price per m² and the number of homes sold on the open market over the last 12 months for the selected area vs the comparison area, with quarterly time series.
- Tab: Price trend - geographic map showing the price trend per m² per grunnkrets/kommune.
- Tab: Price analysis - histogram of homes sold by price per m², with median and avg.
See Report: Price statistics for the full description.
Typical use: market anchor when setting a price, bid documentation, local price trend in an acquisition memo.
3. Demographics
Demographic profile for the grunnkrets around a selected property: sex, age, life stage, housing conditions, households, income and wealth. Source: Statistisk sentralbyrå (SSB).
- Tab: Demographics - sex and age distribution, life stage profile.
- Tab: Demographics over time - historical development in population composition from about 2010.
- Tab: Overview - condensed key figures dashboard (population, homes, economy).
- Tab: Statistics - detailed distribution charts for age, marital status, family, income, wealth and education.
- Tab: Housing statistics - housing conditions, form of ownership, building age, floor area, property price and transactions.
See Report: Demographics for the full description.
Typical use: tenant profile, retail location assessment, sizing of schools and nurseries, target group for a housing project.
Technical details
- The reports open in a modal window over the map and can be expanded to full screen.
- The Reset button resets all filters to the default selection.
- The zoom control (
– 2 % +) at the bottom of the modal lets you adjust the text size. - The dashboards are interactive, with filters for housing type, new/existing, geography and comparison area.
When a property is too large for a report
The Risk Report, the climate risk report and some other reports have an internal area limit. The calculation against hazard zones, flood data, kvikkleire (quick clay) and ground conditions runs at full resolution within the matrikkelenhet; large continuous properties (typically agricultural, forestry and industrial properties of several hundred decares) may be rejected with a message that the property is too large.
Try this order:
- Run the zoning and area utilisation report instead. It covers the planning basis and works at all sizes, but does not include kvikkleire, radon, noise and flooding.
- Contact Placepoint using the chat button at the bottom right. We can split the property, run two partial reports manually and send you the result by email.
It is not yet possible to mark only part of a property; the whole matrikkelenhet is the smallest resolution Placepoint works with. Subdivision must be done through the kommune.
