Population
Population per basic statistical unit (grunnkrets), the number of registered residents at the most recent reporting date. The dataset is supplied by Geodata AS, with Statistisk sentralbyrå (SSB) as the underlying data owner. The grunnkrets is the smallest official geographical unit for population statistics in Norway.
Population figures are the most basic demographic input for property analysis: the size of the market, population density, and change over time. For commercial property brokers and retail analysis, this is essential context (how many potential customers or workers are there within a given distance?), and for residential developers it is the basis for assessing demand prospects. Read together with Age distribution, Daytime population (the available daytime population, important for retail), Households and Education Level. Included in Placepoint's map layer for demographics.
Update frequency: annual.
Follows SSB publication.
