Cars age

Average age of privately owned cars in an area, based on the motor vehicle register held by Statens vegvesen (the Norwegian Public Roads Administration). The dataset is anonymised and suppressed so that individual car owners cannot be identified. Only aggregated figures per geographic cell are shown. Supplied to Placepoint by Geodata AS.

For commercial property agents and valuers, cars age can work as a proxy for purchasing power and the socio-economic profile of an area. A younger vehicle fleet typically indicates higher disposable income or a younger demographic in a renewal phase.
