Cars types

Number of cars per vehicle type in each area, based on the motor vehicle register held by Statens vegvesen (the Norwegian Public Roads Administration). The types included are: passenger car, van, small and large bus, small and large lorry, tractor, motorised implement, moped, motorcycle, snowmobile, centre-axle trailer, full trailer and semi-trailer. The density of cars sets the map colour. Delivered to Placepoint by Geodata AS.

For a commercial property agent, the split between private and business vehicles is a structural indicator: a high share of vans and lorries usually signals an area geared towards trades or logistics. For a residential developer, a high density of mopeds and motorcycles can indicate a dense central area where a car is not needed. Read it together with Cars age, Cars brands and Cars and fuel types.
