Bridges
All bridges and bridge-like structures in Norway, taken from Statens vegvesen's Nasjonal vegdatabank (NVDB, the national road database): planned, newly built, demolished, in traffic, not in traffic and closed or decommissioned. The dataset covers more than 12,000 road bridges, 5,000 bridges in embankments, 2,000 tunnels and road superstructures, 1,500 foot and cycle bridges, 1,000 retaining structures, 600 ferry quays, 230 railway bridges and around 200 other structure categories.
For a developer, bridges are both a physical distance factor (avoid building close to poor or decommissioned bridges) and a signal of how mature the infrastructure in an area is. The dataset is also used by municipalities and county authorities when planning the operation and maintenance of bridges. It is part of Placepoint's map layers for transport and infrastructure.
