Sea depth (bathymetry)

Kartverket is the nautical charting authority in Norway, and this dataset is the official depth reference for saltwater, the underlying basis for navigation products, coastal zone planning and property analysis in the coastal zone. The depth data follows the Norwegian Armed Forces' navigation plan, with 50 m between depth points and contour intervals of 2, 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 40, 50, 100, 150, 200, 250 m and onwards. Coastline contour, constructed coast and skerries are referenced to mean high water.

For a developer or valuer, the dataset is relevant for coastal development and planning in harbour areas, when designing quays, subsea cables and pipelines, for aquaculture-related plots, or when you need an underlying map layer to assess flood and storm surge risk.
