Electric cars
Number of privately owned electric cars per 100x100 m grid, taken from the Statens vegvesen (Norwegian Public Roads Administration) motor vehicle register and anonymised/aggregated. The dataset also contains information about hybrid cars in the same grid, but hybrids are not shown directly on the map. Delivered to Placepoint by Geodata AS.
Norway has one of the world's highest shares of electric cars, but the distribution is very uneven. Urban areas such as Oslo, Stavanger and Trondheim have a considerably higher share of electric cars than rural areas. For a developer, the dataset is relevant when assessing capacity needs for charging stations and changed parking standards in zoning plans, particularly in city centre development. Read it together with Cars and fuel types (total fuel mix), Cars brands (Tesla distribution) and Parking and charging. Part of Placepoint's map layers for transport and communications and energy.
Update frequency: Annually.
