Flomsoner
Flomsoner (flood hazard map) shows areas that are flooded at different flood sizes (return period). Flood hazard maps are produced for the 20-, 200- and 1000-year floods. In areas where climate change is expected to increase water flow by more than 20%, a flood hazard map is produced for the 200-year flood in the year 2100. Use: in land use planning, flood hazard maps can be used to identify areas that should not be developed, and to assess relevant risk-reducing measures if development cannot be avoided. Guidelines 2-2011 Flaum- og skredfare i arealplanar describe how the safety requirements for buildings in the building regulations (TEK 17) section 7-2 can be met in land use planning. In detailed planning and in the processing of subdivision and building applications, you must take into account that the flood hazard maps have limited accuracy. You should use the calculated water levels as a starting point and check the terrain height in the field. If development is planned in flood-prone areas, we recommend adding a safety margin to the calculated water levels to account for uncertainty in the source data and the calculations.
