Properties registered with contaminated land, plus municipal and private/industrial landfills. The data is distributed by Miljødirektoratet (the Norwegian Environment Agency) and run as Grunnforurensningsdatabasen, the ground pollution database. The dataset comes from two main sources: planned mapping of sites with known or suspected pollution, and reports from building and excavation cases, orders to investigate, or the owner's own initiative.

For a developer, the dataset is a mandatory check at the zoning stage. Sites with registered pollution trigger a requirement for a remediation plan under the forurensningsloven (Pollution Control Act) and forurensningsforskriften chapter 2 (the Pollution Regulations), and can require extensive groundwork before construction.
