Counties' borders

Norway's counties with county number and official borders: the top level of Norway's administrative division, used as a geographic filter in many Placepoint analyses. After the regional reform in 2020, the number of counties was first reduced from 19 to 11, and from 01/01/2024 four of the mergers were reversed. The dataset only changes when the Storting adopts such administrative adjustments.

The borders are supplied by Kartverket. Together with Municipality Borders, this layer forms the framework for county and municipality statistics in the map layers for demographics and business.
