Retail activity
Placepoint's classification of areas with retail activity in each municipality, based on the density and turnover of business locations compiled from Brønnøysundregistrene (BRREG) datasets (Grocery Chains, Shopping centres, Department stores, Pharmacies, Fuel stations, and others). Areas are distributed within the municipality across five levels: Highest, High, Medium, Low, Lowest, and they often correlate well with footfall.
For a commercial property broker, retail activity is a summarised signal of a municipality's retail dynamics: where the town centre core is, where out-of-town retail sits, and where the hubs for visits are. For a residential developer it is also relevant when assessing how close homes are to everyday services. Related: Shopping centres, Main Industry per Basic Statistical Unit, Daytime population.
Update frequency: monthly.
