Households

The number of households and their dominant composition per grunnkrets (the smallest statistical area unit), classified into five categories: single people without children, single people with children, multi-family households, couples with children and couples without children. Supplied to Placepoint by Geodata AS, with Statistisk sentralbyrå (SSB) as the underlying data owner.

For a housing developer, household composition is an important signal of the dominant housing need in an area: families with children need more rooms and outdoor space, while older couples and single people have different preferences. For a commercial property agent, it is a basis for target group analysis in retail development. Read it together with Population, Age distribution, Income and Education Level. It forms part of the Placepoint map layer for demographics.

Update frequency: annually.
