Sports, culture & religious buildings

Building types in the matrikkel (the Norwegian cadastre) that fall under three thematic groups:

  • Sports: sports halls, swimming pools, ice rinks, playgrounds, stands and sports changing rooms.
  • Culture: cinemas, theatres, opera and concert houses, museums, art galleries, community centres, local halls, monuments, libraries, zoos and botanical gardens.
  • Religion: churches, chapels, mission houses, monasteries, synagogues, mosques, crematoria, funeral chapels and mortuaries.

The building geometry comes from Felles kartdatabase (FKB), the shared national map database, and the dataset is supplied by Kartverket. For developers and property managers, proximity to cultural infrastructure is an attractiveness factor in prospecting and area analysis, and the layer forms part of the map layers for family and accessibility and business.
