Planned Electrical Installations in the Power System

Electrical installations and power lines that have been granted a licence or are at various stages of licence processing, but that have not yet been built. Distributed by the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE). Each object has one of the following statuses: notification, application, consultation, licence granted / recommendation to OED (the Ministry of Energy), appealed, licence refused, licence withdrawn, or other decision. For each installation, the data shows the type (overhead line, substation and others), voltage level, installation name, developer, licence status and status date.

For a developer, the dataset is an early signal that the power grid in an area is being expanded, which can both trigger future building prohibition zones and affect grid capacity for new projects with high power demand. For larger development projects with significant power demand (for example data centres, warehouses with battery charging, large housing projects), it is also relevant for assessing whether grid capacity is a bottleneck. Included in Placepoint's map layer for energy. Related: Grid installations, Substations, towers, poles & licences.

Update frequency: when the source changes.
