Outdoor recreation areas
Areas mapped and valued using the methodology in the Miljødirektoratet guide M98-2013 "Kartlegging og verdsetting av friluftslivsområder" (mapping and valuation of outdoor recreation areas). The purpose is to give an overview of areas that matter for public outdoor recreation, with transparency in the assessments and criteria behind the valuation. The dataset is owned by the municipalities, which register and update the data in Naturbase, while Miljødirektoratet runs the solution.
For a property developer, mapped outdoor recreation areas matter for zoning plans that affect recreational values. Prepared paths, bathing spots, viewpoints and central recreation areas can trigger consideration zones and requirements to maintain public access. Included in Placepoint's map layers for family and accessibility and nature. Related: The route base, Nature and cultural areas, Shoreline management zone, Marka boundary.
Update frequency: real time.
