Municipality Borders

Norway's 357 municipalities with municipality number (four-digit code) and official outer boundaries. The dataset is the administrative subdivision basis for most analyses in Placepoint. Everything from demographics and business statistics to zoning plans, municipal master plans and municipal information is compiled on this layer. The dataset only changes when municipalities merge or administrative adjustments are made (the last major round was in 2020).

The boundaries are supplied by Kartverket, which is the land registration authority and manages national mapping and geodata services. Related administrative datasets: Counties' borders, School catchment areas, Voting districts, Primary Schools and the municipality's own planning registers via SePlan.
