Municipal plans

The municipality plan is the municipality's overarching governing document and consists of a social element with an action programme and a land use element. It is first and foremost the land use element that is relevant for property analysis: it sets the main purpose for each property (housing, business, agriculture-nature-outdoor recreation, conservation and so on) and sets the framework for later zoning plans. The dataset is the nationwide, periodically synchronised copy of the municipalities' own planning data, collected and published by Kartverket through Geonorge.

Only the geographic vector data of the land use element is available. The associated planning documents are held in the municipalities' own planning registers, and a link is added from each planning area in the map to the municipality's document. SePlan gives an overview of what exists nationwide. For a developer, the municipality plan is the first check when assessing a site: is the land set aside for the purpose I want? For an estate agent, it is relevant context in the sales prospectus and valuation. Related: Zoning Plans, Regulation plan proposals, Mapped municipal plans (Placepoint's own deeper extracts for selected kommune). The colors on the plan map are explained in the zoning plan legend.

Update frequency: Daily.

Daily applies to municipalities with geosynchronisation. For other municipalities, the planning data is updated once or twice a year.
