Bergen kommune
Bergen kommune is Norway's second largest municipality with around 290,000 inhabitants, and it supplies its own dataset to Placepoint that is not available through national channels. Bergen is one of the municipalities that does not share school catchment areas with Utdanningsdirektoratet (the Norwegian Directorate for Education and Training) or with Kartverket's compiled nationwide copy. Placepoint therefore collects the catchment areas for primary, combined and lower secondary schools directly from the municipality, so that home buyers and estate agents in the Bergen area get the same overview of school affiliation as in the rest of the country.
For other datasets about Bergen (property data, zoning plans, building information), the same national sources apply as elsewhere. See Kartverket and Geodata. The municipality's own specialist systems are only relevant where national sources lack content.
Bergen kommune is Norway's second largest municipality. The municipality is organised administratively into departments and units responsible for services covering, among other things, kindergarten and school, health and care, culture, urban development and civil protection.
