Building Research Establishment (BRE)

Building Research Establishment (BRE) is a British research organisation founded in 1921 that manages BREEAM, the most widely used environmental certification system for buildings in Norway. The Norwegian adaptation, BREEAM-NOR, is administered by Grønn Byggallianse under licence from BRE. It is today the standard choice for new builds and major refurbishments where the developer wants to document sustainability to financiers, tenants and buyers.

For Placepoint, BREEAM certification means that a commercial building has documented qualities beyond the building regulations in areas such as energy performance, choice of materials, indoor climate and location. The BREEAM status is shown together with Svanemerket and LEED in the Environmental Certifications dataset, which is useful for valuation, tenant prospecting and ESG reporting.
