Brønnøysundregistrene (BRREG)

Brønnøysundregistrene is the state agency that operates Norway's central public registers, and the underlying source behind all datasets about companies, associations and enterprises in Placepoint. The agency is based in Brønnøysund, with offices in Narvik and Oslo, employs around 480 people and manages registers such as Enhetsregisteret (the central register of all Norwegian enterprises and businesses), Foretaksregisteret (the register of business enterprises), Frivillighetsregisteret (the register of non-profit organisations), Konkursregisteret (the bankruptcy register) and the open register of beneficial owners.

For Placepoint, Enhetsregisteret is the most important one: all datasets that show where a given type of business is located, fuel stations, pharmacies, wine monopoly, fitness centres, garden centres, furniture stores, building materials stores, shopping centres, fast food restaurants, hotels with restaurants, post offices and postal locations, grocery chains, department stores, build on address, industry code and status information from Enhetsregisteret. The same applies to Placepoint's own analyses of ownership and company structure, growing companies and main industry per basic statistical unit. A business that is not registered in Enhetsregisteret (for example the fitness chain EVO) therefore does not appear in Placepoint, even if it exists physically.
