Kartverket
Kartverket is Norway's national mapping and land registration authority, and the single supplier most central to the very core of Placepoint, the property data. The agency runs matrikkelen (the official property register) and Grunnboken (the register of registered rights and encumbrances), manages the national map and geodata services through Geonorge, and is the hydrographic authority responsible for depth data and coastal outlines. When you click a property in Placepoint, the bruksnummer, plot boundaries, ownership, leasehold arrangements and building information ultimately come from Kartverket's registers.
Kartverket works closely with the kommune administrations through geosynchronisation for planning data, and supplies nationwide copies of municipal zoning plans, municipality plans and building data from Felles kartdatabase (FKB). These nationwide copies are what Placepoint mirrors in the map, so you get a uniform view across the country's 357 kommuner without having to deal with each kommune's own map viewer.
Kartverket was established in 1773 and is the oldest technical agency in Norway that is still in operation. Our tasks have changed in step with the digitalisation of society.
