Metria

Metria is a Swedish geodata and GIS company that supplies map data, geographic analysis and property information services to municipalities, public bodies and private businesses in construction, forestry, energy, telecoms, banking and insurance. The company was separated out from Lantmäteriet as its own limited company in 2011. Today Metria is part of the Nordic group Spir Group, which has owned the company since spring 2022 and whose other subsidiaries include the Norwegian company Ambita. Metria has about 125 employees across three offices in Sweden.

Metria is named as one of the sources behind Placepoint's Swedish coverage in our own published figures, but Combify's source information for property data points to Lantmäteriet's property register and Skatteverket's tax assessment classes, not to Metria directly. The Norwegian counterpart is Geodata AS: both are commercial geodata and GIS suppliers that combine public and private sources into finished services for the property sector. Their histories differ: Geodata AS has always been a purely commercial company and the Norwegian distributor of Esri software, while Metria started as part of a public agency and was only separated out as its own company in 2011, before later becoming part of Spir Group.
