Sokkeldirektoratet (formerly Oljedirektoratet)
Sokkeldirektoratet (SOD), formerly Oljedirektoratet (OD), is the Norwegian state body that manages the petroleum resources on the Norwegian continental shelf. It was set up as Oljedirektoratet in 1972 and changed its name to Sokkeldirektoratet on 01/01/2024, with a wider mandate that also covers offshore wind, seabed minerals and CO2 storage. The directorate reports to Energidepartementet (the Ministry of Energy) and is the official data source for petroleum wellbores, geology and offshore infrastructure.
