Statistisk sentralbyrå (SSB)
Statistisk sentralbyrå (SSB) is Norway's national statistics agency and the underlying source behind almost all population, household, income, wealth and industry statistics in Placepoint. SSB publishes official statistics at national, regional and kommune level, and releases the data as openly available tables via statbank.ssb.no. Many of Placepoint's map layers, age distribution, population density, income and wealth, households, voting districts, education level and field of education, are based on SSB table data, compiled and passed on by Geodata.
For a property developer, population and household statistics are essential in market analysis: who lives in the area, what they earn, what the age distribution looks like, and how it develops over time. For an estate agent, the same figures are the simplest way to justify price expectations and target group in a sales prospectus. Many of Placepoint's own derived analyses (Main Industry per Basic Statistical Unit, Growing companies) build on a combination of SSB and BRREG data.
SSB is a professionally independent institution responsible for collecting, producing and publishing official statistics on the economy, population and society at national, regional and local level.
