Parking and charging

Compiled dataset of parking and electric car charging in Norway, built on three underlying sources and distributed by Geodata AS:

  • Parking spaces (source: Statens vegvesen NVDB) - categorised as car park, on-street parking or multi-storey car park. Parking subject to conditions (vilkårsparkering) offered by public or private businesses must be registered in NVDB.
  • Charging stations (source: NOBIL) - overview of public charging stations for electric cars, with the number of charging points and power output.
  • Rest areas (source: Statens vegvesen NVDB) - all rest areas, with the number of parking bays, or the area in m² where the number is missing.

For a developer, parking and charging capacity in an area is decisive in zoning plans: the municipality's parking standard often depends on existing capacity and public transport provision. In areas with many electric cars, charging capacity is critical. Related: Electric cars, Fuel stations, Road category, authority & speed limit.
