Landslides
Compiled landslide hazard data from several underlying sources, distributed to Placepoint by Geodata AS. The dataset brings together:
- Rockfall (NVE): potential release and runout areas.
- Snow avalanches (NVE and NGI): caution zones for snow avalanches. The NGI version is based on a simple field survey and should be preferred where it exists.
- Quick clay (NVE): potential quick clay landslides, classified by hazard level and risk.
- Possibility of marine clay (NGU): superficial deposits with possible marine clay that can trigger landslides below the marine limit, see Possibility of marine clay.
- Debris flows (NVE): potentially exposed areas.
- Landslide events: recorded historical landslides, important for mapping exposed areas.
- Rock avalanche hazard zones: map layers filtered on hazard zone and return period (100 to 5,000 years), plus an analysis area layer.
For a property developer, designer or valuer, landslide hazard data is a mandatory check at the zoning stage. TEK17 sets safety requirements for different types of building, and zoning plans in landslide-prone areas trigger requirements for geotechnical assessment and mitigation measures. Included in the map layers for risk. Underlying sources: Norges vassdrags- og energidirektorat (NVE), Norges geologiske undersøkelse (NGU) and Norges geotekniske institutt (NGI).
