Road noise
Calculated average road traffic noise 4 metres above ground level, from roads with at least 3 million vehicle passages per year (ÅDT, the annual average daily traffic, of 8,200 or more). The dataset consists of calculations, not measurements, based on traffic volume, road character and a terrain model. Distributed by Miljødirektoratet. Noise is classified under guideline T-1442 into noise zones that trigger different requirements in zoning plans.
For a developer, road noise is decisive at the zoning stage: building within the yellow or red noise zone requires facade insulation, a quiet outdoor area or other mitigating measures. For a home buyer, it is information that belongs in the sales prospectus and the valuation. Included in Placepoint's map layer for noise.
