Substations, towers, poles & licences
Detailed individual installations from Statnett's Netbas system: all substations, power line towers, poles and licence data for the transmission grid and the higher-voltage distribution grid. The dataset is digitised mainly at a scale of 1:50,000 (some at 1:5000, and some have precise coordinates). Installations exempt from public disclosure under section 13 of the Freedom of Information Act are not included. Distributed by Norges vassdrags- og energidirektorat (NVE).
For a developer or design consultant, the individual installations matter when you assess a site near existing infrastructure: proximity to a substation can trigger a noise and radiation assessment, and power line towers set limits on building distances under the building restriction zone rules. Read this dataset together with Grid installations (the line network itself) and Planned Electrical Installations in the Power System (planned installations). Included in Placepoint's map layers for energy and infrastructure.
Update frequency: weekly.
