Wind power
Wind power plants requiring a licence that the Norges vassdrags- og energidirektorat (NVE) (the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate) has finished processing or has under consideration, including installations under construction or wholly or partly in operation. The dataset is central to the ongoing debate about wind power development on land and in coastal areas, and is managed by NVE as the licensing authority under the energiloven (the Norwegian Energy Act).
For a developer or investor, the dataset is relevant for all projects that require large power capacity in the grid (wind power increases the available capacity in the region) and for sites in areas suitable for wind power (this can trigger hensynssoner, that is, zones subject to special consideration, and restrictions). For valuers working near existing or planned wind farms, the dataset is relevant for valuation, because proximity to wind turbines can affect house prices. Included in Placepoint's map layer for energy. Related: Hydropower, Grid installations, Planned Electrical Installations in the Power System.
