Wine monopoly
All Vinmonopol outlets in Norway, around 350 stores as at the end of 2022. Vinmonopolet is the state retail monopoly for stronger alcoholic drinks (above 4.7% by volume), and its coverage is deliberately set by policy: 94% of the population live in a municipality with its own vinmonopol, and 98% live in a municipality with an outlet or less than 30 km from the nearest one. Between 2000 and 2019, Vinmonopolet opened around 220 new stores, an average of 10 per year. Supplied by Geodata AS, with Brønnøysundregistrene's Enhetsregister as the underlying source.
For commercial property brokers in regional markets, a vinmonopol is a well-known signal of a municipality's town centre function. For residential developers, proximity to an outlet is a moderate attractiveness factor. Included in Placepoint's map layer for business. Related: Grocery Chains, Pharmacies.
