Can I import my own BIM models (IFC) into Placepoint?

Yes. The 3D Designer supports import of building models in IFC format (Industry Foundation Classes), the open BIM standard from Revit, ArchiCAD, Tekla and Solibri. Open a 3D collection, select the 3D volume tab, click Library and Upload .IFC file. The file is converted to a 3D web format and becomes available to your whole organisation, across collections and projects.

Placepoint only supports .ifc files under 100 MB. Other formats (OBJ, GLTF, DWG, SketchUp, Revit .rvt, Rhino) must be exported to IFC in their original tool first. If the model ends up in the wrong place on the map, the cause is usually the coordinate information in the file.

The converter supports the schema versions IFC2X3 and IFC4. Newer versions such as IFC4X3_ADD2 (typically from newer Revit) are not yet supported. Such a file fails during conversion even if it is small and opens in other IFC tools. In that case, export the model again as IFC2X3 or IFC4. The schema version is stated in the file's FILE_SCHEMA header.

How do I export data from Placepoint?

Three common export methods:

1. Excel from a search list or portfolio. Results from Filter and Tags are exported with one click to .xlsx with address, matrikkel, area, owner, tenant and latest transaction data.
2. PDF report from a property. Open Reports from the quick links in the property panel, select a report (price statistics, demographics, nature values and so on), and use Ctrl+P to print / save as PDF. Clean print layout without navigation.
3. URL sharing. Copy the URL from the address bar to share a property. The URL contains the matrikkel ID and is stable; the recipient opens the same property panel.

How do I export gnr/bnr and address for several properties at once?

Select the properties on the map and export the list to Excel.

1. Select properties. Hold down Ctrl (Windows / Linux) or Cmd (Mac) and click each property you want to include. The click extends the selection instead of replacing it.
2. Export to Excel. Run the export on the selection. The file contains the address and gnr/bnr for each unit.

Note that the matrikkel report can only be retrieved per single matrikkelenhet, not as a combined report for several properties. Selecting and exporting to Excel is therefore the recommended method when you need a combined overview.

If you need more detailed information about the properties, you can use Filter to search for a set of properties and export a richer data table to Excel.

How do I export just the map itself?

Use the print button (printer icon) in the top menu above the map. It opens a print selector where you can choose file format (PNG/JPEG/PDF), paper size and scale, and downloads the map on its own without Placepoint's panel overlays. Frame the map before you export by using zoom and pan; what is visible in the viewport is what ends up in the file.

The Screenshot button (camera icon) next to it does the same for a clean screenshot at full screen resolution, useful when you want to paste the map into a report or email without configuring paper size first.

For a full map with planning data, map layers and buildings as shown on screen, turn off or hide any panels (click the panel's X or use Hide) before you export, so the panel does not block the map view you actually want.

What is included in a map print, and what is missing?

The print (printer icon in the top menu) creates a file of the visible map view as it looks on screen. That means:

What is included:

• Everything visible on the map: background map, active map layers (zoning, noise, flood, demographics and so on), buildings, property boundaries and any drawings or polygons you have added.
• Colours, symbols and legends for active map layers if they are switched on.
• The map of Norway fitted to the selected paper size and scale.

What is not included:

• Coordinates on property boundaries are not shown directly in the map print. The coordinates are not part of the map view itself, and the print function does not add them automatically. If you need coordinates for a boundary, get them from Kartverket Norgeskart or download the property geometry directly from Matrikkelen via your municipal case officer or Geonorge.
• Panels and menus from the Placepoint interface (property panel, left menu and so on) are not included. They are hidden automatically in the print.
• Data that is not loaded in the current map view, for example map layers you have not switched on.

Drawn areas and analysis polygons:

Polygons you have drawn with the Analyze tool (Draw area / Draw screen) or the area measurer in the 3D Designer are visible on the map and are included in the print as long as they are active and visible on screen.

If a drawn area is missing from the print, the cause is usually one of these:

• The drawing is hidden with Hide drawing (E). Press E again to show it, and start the print again.
• The drawing lies outside the visible map view. Zoom out or pan until the drawing is visible in the map view before you start the print.
• You have switched between 2D and 3D after drawing, and the drawing is no longer visible in the current view. Go back to the correct mode.

Hidden buildings:

Buildings you have hidden with the hide buildings tool in the 3D Designer are also not visible in the print. If you want the building included, show it again in the 3D Designer panel before export.

Reporting print errors:

If the print shows something other than what you see on screen (for example missing map layers, wrong scale or white areas), use the chat button at the bottom right of the console to contact Placepoint support. Please attach a screenshot of the map view and of the print result, and state your browser and operating system.

Can I export map data in a GIS format such as Shapefile or GeoJSON?

No, not directly from the console. Export gives you Excel and PDF, not raw geodata formats such as SOSI, Shapefile or GeoJSON. If you need geometry for GIS use, download property and FKB data from Geonorge or Kartverket's download services.

Can I share a property with someone who does not have a Placepoint account?

URL links to the property panel require sign-in, so they only work for colleagues with access. If you need to share with someone without an account, export to PDF or Excel and send the file. PDF reports created with the print function can be shared freely.
