Mobile and tablet
Placepoint runs in the browser and is built for Mac and PC. It works on tablets, with limitations. On mobile it is very limited. For browser versions, hardware and troubleshooting, see System Requirements.
Will there be an app for iPhone and Android in the App Store and Google Play?
Not now. Placepoint is an advanced web app that uses technology which in practice is only available in the browser, including WebGL2 for the 3D map. A separate iOS and Android app would have to rebuild large parts of this, in two code bases to be maintained alongside the web app. That is a considerable amount of work, and it is not a priority.
You can add Placepoint to the home screen on your phone and tablet and get an icon to tap, instead of a bookmark in the browser. The steps are at the bottom of this page.

Can I use Placepoint on a tablet?
Yes, with limitations. Placepoint works on iPads and other tablets today. It is useful on the go between meetings and on site visits: you can look up a property, view map layers and open the property panel. Current location in the toolbar on the right centres the map where you are standing, and was made for exactly this kind of field use.
The limitations are the same as on a small laptop: panels and lists get less space, heavy 3D scenes run more slowly than on a computer, and features that need a right-click or the pointer to hover over an element do not always have a touch equivalent. For the work itself, we still recommend a Mac or PC with a large screen.

Does Placepoint work on mobile?
Very limited. You can sign in, search for an address and open the property panel, but the map, the panels and the toolbars are designed to be shown at the same time on a large screen, and there is not room for them on a phone. Placepoint is not built for phones, and we are not making a separate phone version. Use a Mac or PC, or a tablet.

Can I be signed in on a PC and a tablet at the same time?
No. An account can only be signed in on one device at a time. If you sign in on the tablet, the PC is signed out, and the other way round. This is by design: the account is personal, and a single active sign-in is what stops a signed-in tablet or phone being used by anyone other than you.

How do I add Placepoint to my home screen?
Open app.placepoint.no in the browser on your phone or tablet, and add the page to the home screen:
- iPhone and iPad (Safari): tap the share icon at the bottom (the square with an arrow pointing up), scroll down and select Add to Home Screen.
- Android (Chrome): tap the three-dot menu button in the top right, and select Add to Home screen or Install app.
You then get a Placepoint icon on your home screen that opens the solution in its own window without an address bar and tabs. It is the same web app, not an app from the App Store or Google Play, so it updates automatically along with the rest of Placepoint. The first time, you have to sign in, as you do in the browser.
