Map layer: Infrastructure
The Infrastructure category brings together technical infrastructure such as bridges, the power grid, water and sewer pipes, broadband, public transport stops and administrative boundaries. The layers help you map what exists in and around a planning area, assess connection conditions and identify infrastructure that may affect a development. Many layers here overlap with Energy, Water and Transport and communications, but they are gathered here for an overall technical assessment.

Layers in this category (19)
Bridges
Planned, newly built, demolished, trafficked and closed bridges from NVDB. Useful for mapping access conditions to a property and for identifying whether planned measures depend on a bridge with limited capacity or weight limits.

About the map layer
Planned, newly built, demolished, trafficked, non-trafficked and closed bridges. The map layer is based on data from NVDB (the national road database). Included use categories: Road bridge (12k) Bridge in embankment (5k) Tunnel/road canopy (2k) Pedestrian and cycle bridge (1.5k) Retaining structure (1k) Ferry berth (600) Railway bridge (230) Other structure category (200)

Broadband coverage
Broadband coverage for buildings, grouped into speed classes, from Nkom (Nasjonal kommunikasjonsmyndighet). Useful for commercial property assessments where broadband capacity is critical (data centres, office buildings, logistics terminals), and for residential assessments in rural areas where fibre coverage varies.

About the map layer
Shows broadband coverage for buildings, grouped into different speed classes. The coverage map is based on data reported by broadband providers to Nkom's coverage survey. Note that the map may contain errors in some cases. Read more about broadband coverage at Nkom: Nkom – Bredbånd i Norge 2022
Update frequency: Annually.
Fibre coverage
Share of households offered fibre at 1 Gbit/s, from Nkom's coverage survey. The layer has five views: household points, 250 m and 1000 m grids, municipality and county. Darker green means a higher share.
The layer shows where fibre is offered, not who supplies it. Nkom publishes coverage aggregated across providers, and no open source names the supplier at an address. Use it to see whether an area has been built out, not to decide who to call.
Where Broadband coverage shows speed classes per building, this layer answers whether the technology is fibre. The two complement each other.

About the map layer
Share of households offered fibre at 1 Gbit/s, from Nkom's coverage survey. Shown at county, municipality, 1000 m and 250 m grid level, plus household points. The figure is an offer of fibre, not who supplies it: Nkom publishes coverage aggregated across providers, not provider names. Source: Nkom.
Update frequency: Annually.
The layer switches view according to how far you have zoomed in. The service draws the level that suits the scale:
| Scale | View | What you see |
|---|---|---|
| Closer than 1:10,000 | Households | One point per household with a fibre offer |
| 1:10,000 to 1:250,000 | 250 m grid | Share of households with an offer in each cell |
| Further out than 1:250,000 | 1000 m grid | Same figure, coarser cells |
If you zoom past a level, the layer does not disappear: the level above takes over. Municipality and county have no scale limit and are switched off, because they would otherwise cover the grid at every zoom level. Switch them on for market questions: which municipalities are lowest, how the county compares.
Share is the offer as providers have reported it to Nkom, not a confirmed delivery. A building can be listed with an offer and still need its own connection work. The grid makes it possible to see that the neighbourhood has fibre even if this plot is not registered with an offer.
The layer is based on the 2023 coverage survey, which is the most recent year Nkom publishes.

Tips
- NADAG is particularly useful when buying a plot in a quick clay zone: check whether stability assessments already exist from earlier projects nearby.
- Broadband coverage is updated by Nkom, so the data can be somewhat older than the actual roll-out. Verify against the provider's own map services for new builds.
- Grid installations, Wind power and Hydropower in this category are identical to the layers in Energy.
