About Placepoint Fusion

Placepoint Fusion overview

Placepoint Fusion is the next generation of Placepoint, available at app.placepoint.no for a limited group of pilot users. It is the first version that brings the "old" Placepoint, PropCloud and Placepoint Maps (formerly Newsec Maps) together in one interface, on a new data backend. Features, names and structure may change along the way.

Placepoint contains:

  • Around 2,300 data sources and map layers, from around 170 map services
  • 3.5 million matrikkelenheter in Norway
  • 1.1 million active companies and 850,000 sub-units, 2.9 million including dissolved ones
  • More than 14 million registered owners and rights holders, including historical ones
  • More than 30 million ownership relations between companies, owners and property
  • 5.3 million links between company addresses and properties, showing who is located where
  • Around 240,000 registered changes of ownership and 300,000 address changes each year
  • More than 850 customers
  • More than 6,500 professional users

All the numbers, with what they count, are on Placepoint in numbers.

Sweden: Placepoint acquired Combify in July 2026 and covers Swedish property through them: 4.2 million fastigheter (Swedish properties) in all 290 municipalities, with detaljplaner (detailed development plans), bygglov (building permits) and development rights. More than 620,000 municipal cases have been analysed, of which more than 500,000 are bygglov decisions and close to 120,000 are detaljplaner, and behind them lie more than 100 terabytes of case documents. The property data is updated weekly, the municipalities issue around 70,000 bygglov decisions a year, and the platform takes in around 1,500 data updates a day. The sources are Lantmäteriet, Boverket, Bolagsverket, SCB, Metria and the municipalities. See combify.com.

What is new and improved in Placepoint Fusion

Placepoint Fusion covers the same tasks as v1 (search and lookup on property and buildings, maps with thematic map layers, 3D view, tags, datasets and analysis), and adds companies, case access and projects. Everything has been rebuilt from the ground up. The main changes:

One combined platform. The features from Placepoint, PropCloud and Placepoint Maps (formerly Newsec Maps) are in the same interface, on a new data backend.

Revised interface. Faster and more responsive, with quick switching between 2D and 3D.

Shorter left menu. Map, Map layer, Tags, Datasets and Analysis are at the top, and Settings, Help and the user card at the bottom. If the window is too short to show everything, the rest is gathered under All features. See Interface overview.

A global search field at the top covers addresses, cadastre numbers, companies and people, and replaces Search as a separate menu item. Next to it is Last visited, with the panels you have opened recently. See Search.

Map buttons at the top. Zoom, compass, 2D/3D, base map and map layers are gathered at the top right. The selection tools (pointer, rectangle, lasso), saved places, print, screenshot and Current location are along the right edge.

The panels are on the right. The property panel has moved from the left to the right side of the map, and covers the tools along the right edge when it is open. Move panel in the three-dot menu docks the panel to the left, top or bottom, or lets it float freely over the map. See The map interface.

Company panel. Click a company in the map, or a company owner in the property panel, and you get roles, shareholders, ownership chain, office addresses, transactions and the properties the company owns. See Company panel.

Case access. The municipality's building cases, dispensation applications, complaints and completion certificates are on the property, with the documents in the case. See Case access.

Risk. Natural hazards, climate risk and ground conditions are read off through the Risk category in Map layer, so you can see both whether the property overlaps a hazard zone and where the boundary runs. See Risk.

More efficient map layer handling. The catalogue has been rebuilt from a hierarchical list into a gallery with categories, search and favourites. Active Layers are controlled from one panel, with blend mode, image adjustment, filter and a result table per layer. Both versions have 18 categories, but Placepoint Fusion has more layers: more than 250 main map layers against 220+ in v1, with around 2,300 sub-layers in total. See Map layer.

More data. A new data backend with more on companies, ownership structure and transactions, and more data sources and map layers.

Projects. A project is a workspace around one task, selected at the bottom of the left menu. Properties, Areas, Activities, Filter and Monitoring belong to the active project. See Projects.

Datasets. Upload your own data, for example shop locations, and combine it with Placepoint data in the map. See Datasets.

Analysis is gathered in one menu with area and demographic analyses. The geometric tools are along the right edge: Measurements work in both 2D and 3D, while Daylight, Shadow, Elevation Profile, Line of Sight and Viewshed require 3D. Elevation Profile draws a route with several points and shows terrain and buildings with length, gradient and height. Viewshed colours visible area green and non-visible area red, with a field of view of 45°, 180° or 360°. See Analysis.

Cadastre number is used consistently in the interface, instead of fnr and gnr. See The property panel.

Theme. Four themes in the user card: light and dark, each with a high-contrast variant. v1 has dark as the default. See Theme.

v1 is the official product for customers. Links, keyboard shortcuts and terminology in Placepoint Fusion may differ from v1.

The road to one platform

Placepoint Fusion brings Placepoint 1, PropCloud, Placepoint Maps (Newsec Maps) and Combify together in one shared platform. All four are replaced by Fusion, including Combify: the Swedish data is almost fully imported. The migration happens in phases: pilot customers are already under way, and the customers on each product are moved over once Placepoint Fusion has functionality equivalent to the product they use today. The dates below are provisional. Placepoint customers already have access to Placepoint Fusion.

Who are these pages for?

The / documentation is for pilot users, product teams and customer success. External customers should use the v1 documentation until Placepoint Fusion is officially released.
