Areas
Areas are Placepoint's geographic panels for administrative and statistical divisions. If you click a property, the property panel opens. If you click an area, one of the panels below opens.
The areas follow SSB's official classification of administrative and statistical units and are sorted from largest to smallest.
The levels on the map
The screenshots below show Oslo at four levels, from county to grunnkrets. The zoom level decides which unit a click hits: the further in you are, the finer the unit you get.
County. The whole county in view, which is the extent a county panel sums over.
Municipality. Oslo kommune, the level most portfolio reviews start at.
City district. A single city district. Below this level, the grunnkrets boundaries start to matter.
Basic statistical unit. Neighbourhood level, the smallest unit Statistisk sentralbyrå (SSB) publishes statistics for.
The codes are the same whatever the zoom: you can look up a grunnkrets directly in Search without zooming there first.
Country
The highest level in the hierarchy. Norway is the only country Placepoint covers today. The panel gathers statistics at national level and lets you download aggregated data exports.
County
Uses the two-digit county code (Oslo 03, Akershus 32, Rogaland 11). The panel shows totals at county level and links on to the municipalities it contains.
Municipality
Uses the four-digit municipality number (Oslo 0301, Bergen 4601, Trondheim 5001). The panel shows municipality totals, which county it belongs to, the list of city districts and which insight data is available.
Postal code
Four-digit postal code (Oslo centre 0150, Bergen centre 5003). The panel aggregates property and demographic figures for the whole postal code zone.
City district
Six-digit city district code (030101 = Gamle Oslo). Only larger urban municipalities have formal city districts. For smaller municipalities, sub-area or basic statistical unit is used instead.
Sub-area
Eight-digit sub-area code (03010101). Sub-areas are SSB's intermediate level between city district and grunnkrets, used where a finer division than city district is needed.
Basic statistical unit
Eleven-digit grunnkrets code (03010101001). The grunnkrets is the smallest unit in SSB's hierarchy and is used for demographic and business statistics at neighbourhood level.
Statistics root
Top-level statistics without a specific area selected. Used as an entry point when you do not know which level you are looking for.
Company
The company panel opens on an organisation number from Brønnøysundregistrene and gathers the information Placepoint has linked to the company: the property portfolio, ownership structure, roles and key financial figures from the annual accounts. Click a company in search, or an ownership link described in Ownership and Company Structure, to open the panel.
Address
The address panel is a lookup on a single official address from Kartverket's matrikkel. The panel shows the associated matrikkel number, buildings and housing and business units. Use it when you have a street address but do not know which property it sits on.
Street
The street panel gathers all addresses along one street in a municipality. The panel lists each house-number address and lets you open the address or property panel for each number. Useful for seeing the whole stock in a street together, for example in home sales analyses or letting surveys.
Places name
The place name panel opens on an entry in the Sentralt stedsnavnregister (SSR) and shows the name type (tunnel, mountain, island, town, city district), which municipality and county it belongs to, and a hierarchical list of nearby place names. Use it for geographic navigation when you know a name but not a matrikkel number or an address.
Parking area
The parking area panel describes a defined parking facility: type (multi-storey car park, open lot, on-street), number of spaces, provision (accessible spaces, charging points) and owner or operator. The data comes from the Parkeringsplasser map layer. Clickable from search or directly on the map.
