Proptech
Proptech is a blend of "property" and "technology", and covers the use of digital tools in the property industry. The term spans everything from platforms for buying, selling and letting, through systems for management and operations, to smart building solutions based on sensors and IoT, 3D modelling and analysis tools that apply machine learning to property data.
The use of digital tools in the industry has developed in waves since the 1980s. First came spreadsheets and local software, then internet-based listing portals in the 2000s, and today cloud-based data and analysis platforms that draw on open registers. In a Norwegian context, the field covers estate agency portals, BIM tools for construction projects, digital lease agreements, automated verdivurdering (property valuation), management systems, and mapping and analysis tools for site and project development.
