Monitoring

Monitoring detects changes to properties and areas you follow and sends alerts by email and in-app.

Requires a project: yes.

The Monitoring panel in Placepoint Fusion

Open the panel

Click Monitoring in the left-hand menu. The panel shows active monitoring rules. Click + Create new monitoring to start.

What Monitoring does

Placepoint retrieves public postal lists from the municipalities and runs them daily against the properties and areas in the project. Each match becomes an activity in the project log. The alert is delivered the next morning to everyone who has personal email alerts enabled.

Typical event types that trigger an alert:

  • A new building case (framework permit, commencement permit, exemption application) registered against the property.
  • A change in zoning status.
  • A new registered change of ownership (deed or share transaction).
  • A new property listing published.

How to set up a monitoring rule

Monitoring has three sections:

1. Email alert (personal)

Turn the email alert on or off for your user. The alert is sent every morning with new activities. Colleagues have to turn on their own subscription.

2. Project setting: Case access monitoring

The common settings for the project control which events are monitored:

TypeWhat is monitored
PropertyCases linked to properties added to the project
AreaCases within a drawn area (independent of matrikkel)

At least one user in the project has to have this enabled for new cases to be registered.

3. Filter on keyword (optional)

Limit alerts to cases where the title or the sender/recipient contains a keyword, for example "riving" (demolition), "reguleringsforslag" (zoning proposal) or "dispensasjon" (exemption). No keyword means that all cases trigger an alert.

What happens when a case is detected

  1. The case is saved as an activity in the project with a link to the original document, the title, the date and the property or area.
  2. The next morning, an email is sent to everyone who has personal alerts enabled.
  3. The same case is not registered twice: only new documents in a case trigger new activities.

Municipality coverage

Coverage varies by municipality. Check the Coverage Map Case Access map layer under Map layer.

Typical use cases

  • Get an alert the same day an active prospect property changes owner or has a new building case registered against it.
  • Monitor an area around a planned development for new zoning proposals from the municipality.
  • Follow a competitor's development project for changes in the building case process.

Tips

  • The email alert is personal: a project administrator can enable the project settings, but each user turns on their own email alerts.
  • Start without a keyword filter. See what comes in over the first few days, then set keywords to filter out noise.
  • Use the keyword filter with specific case types ("riving", "rammetillatelse") rather than broad terms ("bygg").

Differences from v1

  • v1 has two clear project settings (a Property toggle and an Area toggle), a personal email toggle and a keyword filter in one combined view.
  • v1 shows the activity log under the separate menu item Activities.
